Green light given for Treveth’s new mixed-use scheme in Truro
We’re pleased to announce that planning permission has been granted for Treveth’s mixed-use scheme in the centre of Truro.
Located on the site of the Railway Tavern pub which is due to close on Station Road, the scheme will breathe life back into the area, delivering much-needed accommodation for students in Truro city and a new commercial space to serve the neighbouring community.

The new development will include 38 student beds in different accommodation types and a 400sqm commercial space, which is likely to be a convenience store. The plans are designed to regenerate a currently neglected area by delivering a high-quality, sustainable development which will enhance the gateway to Truro city when arriving by rail and provide improved travel services and links to the future Langarth Garden Village.
In addition, the development will introduce wider economic benefits to Truro and the local area. The convenience store would generate 15-20 new jobs, together with further employment opportunities with managing the student element, and the supply chain involved with this.
Tom Davey, Development Manager at Treveth, commented: “We’re pleased to announce that planning permission has been granted to the Railway Tavern scheme. This is Treveth’s first student specific scheme and aims to help resolve a significant shortage of high-in-demand student accommodation in Truro. This will, in turn, free up existing housing stock for local people in a key area of Truro. The provision of a convenience store will bring a new amenity to the locality, providing more opportunities and better employment space.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank those who came along to our public consultation events last year. Your invaluable feedback assisted with the development of our plans, and we look forward to getting started on enhancing this area of Truro.
“Construction is likely to start in the Autumn of this year and expected to take around 15 months to complete. Please keep an eye on the Treveth website and social media pages for updates.”
