Have your say on the emerging regeneration plans for Coinagehall Street and St Anthony’s Gardens, Penzance
Cornish developer Treveth is inviting the local community in Penzance to view the emerging proposals for the Coinagehall Street redevelopment and to have their say on the draft plans for a key area of the town centre.
A public consultation event will be held on Monday 22nd May 2023, 10:30am to 7pm at the Jubilee Café, Jubilee Pool, Battery Road, Penzance, TR18 4FF. The drop-in event is an opportunity for the local community to find out more about Treveth’s proposed plans for Coinagehall Street and to meet the team behind the project.
Members of the public will also have the opportunity to submit their feedback at the event or complete an online questionnaire at www.treveth.co.uk/coinagehallstreet. The consultation website and questionnaire will be live from Monday 22nd May 2023 until Friday 9th June 2023.
Since its launch in 2019, Treveth has been building high-quality new build homes, sustainable communities, and commercial developments in partnership with Cornwall Council to benefit people who live and work in Cornwall. The Coinagehall Street project will see Treveth bring forward much-needed new homes for local people, including both affordable and open market rentals.
Playing its part in shaping Cornwall’s communities and places positively to benefit local people, Treveth’s Coinagehall Street project will also include the regeneration of St Anthony’s Gardens, funded by the Future High Streets Fund as part of the Government’s Towns Fund initiative. Key historical features will be retained whilst providing a better public realm and useable open space which will be enjoyed by local people and visitors alike.
Plans will remain consistent with the Neighbourhood Development Plan and the town’s aspirations for the regeneration of the site. Treveth is aiming to make a planning submission by mid 2023 once the public consultation period has ended.
Emma Rodgers, Senior Development Manager at Treveth, commented: “We’re pleased to announce that our second public consultation event will be held on Monday 22nd May 2023. This is an opportunity for the community to have their say on Treveth’s emerging proposals for Coinagehall Street and to have input into the design as it evolves. The community’s feedback will help us positively shape the future of this popular area of Penzance, by improving community spaces and providing new homes for local people alongside encouraging more visitors to the area which will boost the economy.
“At the public consultation event at Jubilee Café, the Treveth team will be on-hand to answer any questions you may have about the Coinagehall Street project and can take you through the emerging design, which will be on display for you to view along with a model of the proposed site layout. You will have the opportunity to learn about the approach to the design of the site and the scale of the scheme within its surroundings. If you can’t attend in person, all design plans and the feedback questionnaire will be available to view and complete online from 22nd May until 9th June. We look forward to welcoming the community on 22nd May and receiving your feedback.”
Martin Tucker, Chairman Of Penzance Town Deal Board, commented: “The Board would like to encourage all members across the community of Penzance to come along and find out more about the emerging layout for the redevelopment of the site. This prime area of Penzance, which currently includes a run-down field, is looking neglected and it’s a real opportunity to be able to invest some funding to improve it and offer new housing and commercial spaces. The investment will enable to create a site more aligned with the refurbished Promenade and increase the connection between the Town centre and the sea front.”
Founded by Cornwall Council in 2019, Treveth now manages 78 properties across three developments and 45 units across six commercial sites. Building homes for people who live, work in, or have family connections in the immediate vicinity of its sites, Treveth was established to improve the quality of rented accommodation and to increase the availability of homes across the rental, shared ownership, and private rental sectors. Treveth currently has over 300 homes in build for local residents in Tolgus, Liskeard and Bodmin.
It has successfully managed and sold properties transferred from Cornwall Council which now boast thriving communities. These include Heathlands View, Bodmin; The Coppers, Tolvaddon and Tregover, Newquay.
Treveth acquired the site at Coinagehall Street from Cornwall Council under a Subject to Planning Contract in late 2022.
