Have your say on the emerging regeneration plans for Penwinnick Road, St Austell.
Treveth is inviting the local community in St Austell to view the emerging proposals for the Penwinnick Road redevelopment and to have their say on the draft plans aiming to regenerate this key area of the town.
A public consultation event will be held on Tuesday 10th September, from 2pm to 7pm at the Pondhu Children’s Centre, Dithmarschen Way, St Austell PL25 5DS.
The drop-in event is an opportunity for the local community to find out more about Treveth’s proposed plans for the innovative redevelopment at Penwinnick Road. The proposed plans will create a new neighbourhood designed to enhance social connections and create a supportive vibrant environment for residents.
Members of the public will also have the opportunity to submit their feedback at the event or complete an online questionnaire at www.treveth.co.uk/penwinnick-rd. The consultation website and questionnaire will be live from Tuesday, 10th September 2024 until Friday, 27th September 2024.
Since its launch in 2019, Treveth has been building high-quality new build homes, sustainable communities, and commercial developments in partnership with Cornwall Council to directly benefit people who live and work in Cornwall. The Penwinnick Road regeneration project will see Treveth bring forward a new sustainable community for the town, providing much-needed new homes, and people-friendly streets in a shared communal space.
Playing its part in shaping Cornwall’s communities and places positively to benefit local people, Treveth’s Penwinnick Road scheme is funded by B Corp accredited Treveth.
Set within an established tree-lined border, the Penwinnick Road scheme will be designed for community living, where friendships and families can thrive. Including a mix of one, two, three and four bedroom homes and apartments, the 3.7ha site will provide predominantly open market rental and affordable properties to people who live, work or have family connections in the immediate vicinity of St Austell, discouraging second home ownership.
Supported by the provision of a small local commercial centre on site, helping to create job opportunities and amenities for the residents, the community living scheme will also feature enhanced green spaces, including retaining many of the established trees that are located on the now demolished former Cornwall Council offices site.
Designs for the scheme, will be shaped by feedback from the community and stakeholders prior to the submission of a planning application for the site in Autumn 2024.
Emma Rodgers, Senior Development Manager at Treveth, commented: “We’re pleased to announce our first formal public consultation event for the Penwinnick Road development will be held on Tuesday 10th September.
“We’re looking forward to unveiling our early concept plans for regenerating this important town centre site and this is an opportunity for the community to have their say on the emerging proposals for Penwinnick Road and to have input into the design as it evolves.
“The community’s feedback will help us positively shape the future of this key site, by improving community spaces and providing new homes for local people, alongside incorporating commercial space which will boost the economy.
“Our first community event was really well attended and provided us with some valuable input that we considered when developing our design proposals for the site. We’re looking forward to meeting with local residents again and providing the opportunity to view our emerging proposals.
“Attendees will be able to see display boards which give a sense of what the new neighbourhood could look like, alongside receiving more information about the types of homes that will be coming, as well as Treveth’s approach to sustainability and its ethos for delivering homes for local people where they are much needed.”
The site at Penwinnick Road was acquired by Treveth from Cornwall Council in Autumn 2023.
