Meet the developer bringing affordable homes to Connor Downs, West Cornwall
Cornish developer Treveth is set to bring a new affordable led housing scheme to the village of Connor Downs in West Cornwall following the granting of Outline Planning Permission by Cornwall Council.
The local community are invited to come and find out more about Treveth on Wednesday 26th July 2023, 2pm to 7pm, at the Women’s Institute (WI) Hall, Turnpike Road, Connor Downs, Hayle, TR27 5DT. The informal drop-in session is an opportunity to learn about how the housing scheme will benefit people who live and work in Cornwall and meet the team behind the project.
Located at Angarrack Lane, Outline Planning Permission has been granted for an affordable led scheme of up to 40 high-quality, sustainable new homes. Offered to people with a local Cornish connection through residency, employment, or close family, the Treveth scheme will help address the housing need within the local area by delivering homes for local people.
The event is an opportunity for local people to meet the team behind the development and to provide their thoughts and feedback prior to the start of the design process for the Reserved Matters application which will confirm the details on the new homes development.
Since its launch in 2019, Treveth has been building high-quality new build homes, sustainable communities, and commercial developments in partnership with Cornwall Council to benefit people who live and work in Cornwall.
A programme of work and designs for the scheme are currently in development and will reflect feedback received at the event on Monday 26th July, with Treveth aiming to make a planning submission this autumn.
Treveth will engage closely with the local community over the coming months prior to submitting the planning application, with this drop-in session being the first of two consultation events.
Tom Davey, Development Manager, commented: “We’re looking forward to submitting our planning application for up to 40 new homes for Connor Downs in 2023. It’s no secret that Cornwall is currently in the midst of a housing crisis. We need to start bringing more high-quality new build homes to local people and we’re pleased that Treveth is the developer that can bring these homes forward.
“Unlike larger PLC housebuilders, Treveth is a Cornish company that puts Cornish people first. We focus on prioritising local people who live, work, or have family connections in the immediate vicinity of our sites, discouraging second home ownership.
“Our first community event at the Women’s Institute Hall in Hayle is an opportunity to meet our team and find out more about Treveth as a developer. Our second community consultation event will then give local residents the chance to view our design proposals for the site and receive more information about the homes that will be coming to Connor Downs.”
Founded by Cornwall Council, Treveth now manages 78 properties across three developments. The company was established to improve the quality of rented accommodation and to increase the availability of homes across the rental, shared ownership, and private rental sectors. Treveth currently has over 300 homes in build for local residents in Tolgus, Liskeard and Bodmin.
Taking a lead on bringing sustainable new build homes to Cornwall, Treveth builds low carbon developments and strives to achieve challenging carbon emissions targets set for 2030. Treveth’s 185-home scheme at Tolgus, Gwel Bassett, is a market leading low carbon estate housing scheme, with Treveth’s future schemes following its lead.
Treveth has also successfully managed and sold properties transferred from Cornwall Council resulting in thriving local communities. These include Heathlands View, Bodmin; The Coppers, Tolvaddon and Tregover, Newquay.
