Treveth invites local community to view plans for an affordable-led scheme at Connor Downs, West Cornwall
Treveth has announced that it will be holding a public consultation event on 27th March to outline its developed proposals for a new affordable led housing scheme of 40 high-quality, sustainable new homes in the village of Connor Downs in West Cornwall.
Following on from an initial consultation in July 2023, Treveth now invites the local community to come and view the developed plans on Wednesday 27th March 2024, 2pm to 7pm, at the Women’s Institute (WI) Hall, Turnpike Road, Connor Downs, Hayle, TR27 5DT. The site gained Outline Planning permission in June 2023 and this informal drop-in session seeks to provide detail around the site layout, landscaping design and house types and provide an opportunity for local people to talk to the team behind the delivery of the proposed new development and provide feedback on the scheme.
Treveth prides itself on being a developer with a difference – the company was set up to deliver new homes to benefit people who live and work in Cornwall. As such the proposed scheme at Connor Downs will offer homes to people with a local Cornish connection through residency, employment, or close family, and address the local housing need by delivering a mix of one, two, three and four bedroom apartments, bungalows and two-storey homes, across a range of tenures.
The event is the last opportunity for local people to provide their thoughts and feedback on the scheme ahead of the Reserved Matters application being made to Cornwall Council.
There will be an opportunity to submit feedback at the event or complete an online questionnaire at www.treveth.co.uk/connor-downs. The consultation website and questionnaire will be live from Wednesday 27th March 2024 to Friday 5th April 2024.
Since its launch in 2019, Treveth has been building high-quality new build homes, sustainable communities, and commercial developments in partnership with Cornwall Council to benefit people who live and work in Cornwall.
A programme of work and designs for the scheme have been developed to reflect feedback received at the first consultation event that took place in July last year. Treveth has been engaging with stakeholders and the local community, with this drop-in session being the second and final consultation event.
Tom Davey, Development Manager at Treveth, commented: “We’re looking forward to unveiling our proposed plans for 40 new homes in Connor Downs. It’s no secret that Cornwall is currently in the midst of a housing crisis. We need to start bringing more high-quality new build homes to local people and we’re pleased that Treveth is the developer that can bring these homes forward.
“Our first community event was really well attended, and provided us with some valuable input that we considered when developing our design proposals for the site. We’re looking forward to meeting with local residents again and providing the opportunity to view our developed proposals.
“Attendees will be able to see display boards which highlight what the development could look like, alongside receiving more information about the types of homes that will be coming to Connor Downs, as well as Treveth’s approach to sustainability and its ethos for delivering homes for local people where they are much needed.”
Since its launch in 2019, Treveth has been building high-quality new build homes, sustainable communities, and commercial developments in partnership with Cornwall Council to benefit people who live and work in Cornwall. The Connor Downs project will see Treveth bring forward much-needed new homes for local people, including both affordable and open market properties.
Founded by Cornwall Council, Treveth now manages 96 properties across three developments. The company was established to improve the quality of rented accommodation and to increase the availability of homes across the rental, shared ownership, and private rental sectors. Treveth currently has over 300 homes in build for local residents in Tolgus, Liskeard and Bodmin.
Taking a lead on bringing sustainable new build homes to Cornwall, Treveth builds low carbon developments and strives to achieve challenging carbon emissions targets set for 2030. Treveth’s 185-home scheme at Tolgus, Gwel Bassett, is a market leading low carbon estate housing scheme, with Treveth’s future schemes, including one at Park Lanneves in Bodmin and another at Bann an Hyns, Liskeard following its lead.
Treveth has also successfully managed and sold properties transferred from Cornwall Council resulting in thriving local communities. These include Heathlands View, Bodmin; The Coppers, Tolvaddon and Tregover, Newquay.
