Treveth secures planning permission on first commercial unit in Cornwall
Cornwall Council has approved planning permission for a refurbishment of a commercial unit in Pool, West Cornwall, at the junction of Dudnance Lane and Forth Kegyn.
Detailed planning permission was granted by Cornwall Council to Treveth Holdings for the refurbishment of the 7,319 sq ft unit. This is the Cornish developer’s first commercial unit that planning permission has been granted for, and follows Treveth’s purchase in December 2021 of Cornwall Council’s commercial portfolio.
The Pool-based property is located in a prominent, convenient warehouse location and Treveth will initially keep the commercial space as one single unit, but it has the potential to be split into two smaller units if required.
The unit will be upgraded to modern standards and refurbishment works are due to start in January 2023 with completion of works anticipated by May 2023. Offering convenient access to the A30, the unit will offer flexibility to new tenants and can be fitted out to meet their specific needs. As a sustainable developer which strives to achieve challenging carbon emissions targets set for 2030, Treveth will ensure the unit’s roof will be ready for the installation of solar panels if the tenants require them as part of their operations.
Enjoying a prominent location immediately opposite a Tesco Extra store, new tenants will have access to a range of local amenities including a leisure centre, food outlets and Camborne Retail Park.
Robert Churchill, Senior Commercial Property Manager, commented: “We are delighted to announce that Treveth has secured planning permission on the commercial unit at Dudnance Lane. Currently, there is high demand for commercial space in Cornwall but there is a real lack of property available so this acquisition couldn’t have come at a better time. Treveth is committed to supporting local businesses, providing suitable spaces for them to operate in and we look forward to welcoming the new tenant to this modern space once the refurbishment has been completed.”
Robert continued: “We currently have a number of planning applications for the development of new industrial/commercial workspace across the county in the pipeline and are actively looking at sites in Redruth, Pool, Newquay, St. Austell and Penzance. We welcome the chance to discuss options with businesses over the delivery of workspace and explore how we can help meet the needs of the business community. Treveth delivers space on a lease or freehold basis and welcome early approaches from potential tenants so that the design and build can meet their requirements.”
Treveth own and manage a number of commercial units in Bodmin, Helston and Falmouth which are all currently fully let. Its strategy is to grow its commercial estate to meet an ambitious target of creating at least 5000sq m of high-quality commercial workspace across Cornwall per year by 2025.
The commercial unit at Dudnance Lane, Pool, will be available to lease on flexible terms. For any enquiries, please contact Alan Treloar at Vickery Holman on 07841 150714 or [email protected].
