Hayley and Ruby
Managing the perfect work/life balance isn’t easy when you’re raising a family, but for Hayley Wilkins, her new Treveth home has made this possible.
Hayley, 32, and her five year old daughter Ruby, were the first tenants to move to an open market rental property at Treveth’s Bann an Hyns site in Liskeard, in May 2024. It was the two bedroom home’s handy location for work, Ruby’s school and the town’s local amenities that convinced her to make this house her new home.
“There were a few reasons why I chose this home. Firstly, it was the location. I am originally from Bodmin, but I work at Trago Mills in Liskeard so Bann an Hyns is perfect for an easy commute to work and a close proximity to the local amenities in the town. I had moved from a semi-rural location, which felt a bit isolated, especially for Ruby, so it’s great to be back in a town and close to the shops and Ruby’s school. It means I don’t always have to be using the car to get around.”
“The neighbourhood is lovely and quiet, and it’s already becoming a lovely, supportive community.”
Before her move to Bann an Hyns, Hayley had struggled to find rental accommodation for her and her daughter.
“I’d been looking for a rental since February and couldn’t find anything suitable. I was beginning to feel quite disheartened and then I happened to see an advert for rentals at Bann an Hyns on Facebook, and the rest is history! Webbers, the agents, were so helpful when I enquired. Treveth homes are for local people, so I had to go through a process of checking my eligibility, but that was pretty straightforward.
“When I eventually viewed this home, I was so impressed with the feeling of space. The two bedrooms are really generous, so Ruby has a room as big as mine, which is perfect for a five year old, going on fifteen year old! The house feels so fresh and modern. It has everything we need. There’s parking and a garden for Ruby to play in which is amazing.
“My favourite room is the kitchen. It’s so clean looking and bright and airy and there’s room for Ruby and I to have meals together. Plus, everything has been done to a very high standard.”
Bann an Hyns will deliver 46 homes for local people and provide a mix of tenures including open market rental, shared ownership, and affordable rental. This collection of one, two and three bedroom homes will offer spacious accommodation, within walking distance of Liskeard town centre and excellent transport links in to wider Cornwall.
All of Treveth’s new build homes are energy efficient, helping residents to enjoy a low carbon lifestyle, with little effort.
Hayley says, “Having a home that’s so well built but also energy efficient is amazing. On a single family income, I have to manage what I spend carefully. Any help to keep my running costs to a minimum is really reassuring. My home is EPC A-rated, which is the highest energy efficiency rating you can get.”
Treveth has a reputation for delivering excellent customer service and Hayley can see why.
“I was very impressed with the service we received from Treveth and Webbers” said Hayley. “I was so excited to be chosen for the property because I was starting to worry I wouldn’t find anything suitable for us.
“I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Treveth and their lovely, well-built homes. We’re both really happy and settled now.”
