Works at St Anthony Gardens, Penzance, progressing well with opening date to be announced imminently
After weeks of hard work, we are pleased to announce that the re-opening of St Anthony Gardens, Penzance, is on the horizon as works near completion.
The final touches are being made with the gardens due to re-open to the public soon.
Supported by the Future High Streets Fund as part of the Government’s Town Fund, St Anthony Gardens has been reimagined into an appreciated, accessible community asset – one that balances heritage with modern everyday use.
So what exactly will the new space offer the community?
The countdown is now on and we are looking forward to re-opening the gardens for the community to enjoy. As a reminder, here is what you can expect from this new space:
- Retention of most original stone walls and repositioning of the iconic archway to enhance accessibility
- British Standard-compliant pathways for inclusive access throughout the gardens
- Upgraded seating areas offering breath-taking views over Mount’s Bay and Penzance Harbour
- New open spaces for wellbeing activities, events, and informal recreation
- Installation of two boules courts to encourage social play and community engagement
- Biodiverse planting to support local wildlife and create year-round interest
- Full restoration of the existing historic fountain
What’s next?
Now that the gardens have nearly reached completion, we will be moving on to the next phase of the project – bringing 36 new homes and seven business units to the former Taylor’s Garage site.
Homes will offer a mix of affordable, shared ownership and open market tenures with restrictions on holiday let use.
This work is due to start early 2026.
We look forward to welcoming the community back to St Anthony Gardens. Please keep an eye on our website and social media pages where more information will be revealed about the official opening date soon.
